A fund has been established by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) to perpetuate the memory of James Geiger, who died at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto on June 21, 2007, aged six days. James was the beloved son of John Geiger and Marina Jiménez. (Read John's remarks at the committal service for James.) The annual payout of this fund, part of the RCGS Endowment Fund, will go to the Society's Expeditions Committee, and will be used to encourage and support geographic expeditions, with a preference for those undertaken by young Canadians, fulfilling the Society's mandate "to make Canada better known to Canadians and to the world".
